Help Areej, Masoud, and their little boy survive in Gaza
United States
Hello, name is Sarah and I am in Wisconsin, USA, organizing this campaign on behalf of Areej and her family who are trying to survive in Deir al-Balah, Gaza. This campaign has been vetted so you can trust that your donations are getting directly to a family who desperately needs these funds to survive. Your contribution — whether through a donation and/or sharing their story and link with your own networks — is a lifeline and we are so grateful for your support.
Here is a message directly from Areej:
My name is Areej Masoud. I am writing to you from Deir al-Balah, central Gaza Strip, asking for your support to help my family survive. My husband Masoud and I are doing our best to care for our little boy. I was pregnant with Mohammed during the war and delivered him during the war, when life here was filled with intense bombing, destruction, and the deafening sound of airplanes. We protect our son as much as we can from the violence that surrounds us. But it is unavoidable. My beloved Mohammed is 3 months old, which means he has spent more than his entire life surviving this. That is, 75% of his young life living in fear, trying to survive. I am so afraid their little hearts won’t be able to handle this fear. When he can’t sleep because of the bombs, I show him videos of peaceful places filled with waterfalls and animals. I tell him to imagine we are there, safe and sound. My baby, all our children, deserve safety and full bellies. They deserve to fall asleep to the sounds of lullabies, not the sound of bombs. They deserve their childhood and the chance to grow up. Although we started this campaign to raise funds to evacuate the area, we had to use it to survive until a crossing opened.
Parenting requires a lot of effort, right? I ask you to be a part of me. Your support, however big or small, directly impacts our lives. We are so grateful.
Love,
Areej
